Categoría General
On October 10th, the Interreg programmes Sudoe, Central Europe and North West Europe jointly organised a workshop on transnational cooperation on behalf of all the Interreg transnational programmes, in the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities that took place in Brussels from October 7th to 11th. During this week, tangible results since the 90s were highlighted through 3 emblematic projects: CERIecon, cVPP and Fire RS, focusing on 3 key topics: entrepreneurship, energy efficiency and risk management, as illustrated in the Panorama magazine (July 2019). Endorsed by the statements of institutional speakers - Christian Weinberger form DG GROWTH, Lambert Van Nistelrooij, ex MEP, and Andrea Bianchini from DG ENVIRONMENT, these presentations were complemented by 3 thematic roundtables in which the added value, challenges and new opportunities related to the transnational cooperation were discussed.
Once more, these debates underlined the added value of transnational cooperation with a real culture of cooperation and mutual learning, both essential for reducing the European territorial disparities and capitalizing on achieved results. In addition, the discussions stressed on the need of improving communication and exchanges of good practices between actors in order to better shape public policies and empower local communities and therefore, promote citizens’ involvement.
