Last 19/01, the regional natural parc of Landes from Gascogne organised an anual conference in the Marquèze eco-museum. The event focused on post storm reforestation and the fires management services. In this context, the Plurifor project has been introduced – a Sudoe project which promotes innovative tools for the future management of our forests since 2016.

Thus, taking the example of the Klaus storm which destroyed more than 230 000 ha in Southwestern France in January 2009, panelists explained how Plurifor promotes forest fires prevention plans. During the session on risks reduction in Soutwestern European forests, they gave clarifications on instruments and proposals for those plans as well as information on technical guidelines developped under the project and which are available online in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. Furthermore, the project launched the SILVALERT application which allows to inform authorities in real time regarding risks in the ground, by sending a picture. 

The Plurifor project will present all those results at its final conference which will take place on 4th June, 2019, in Bordeaux (FR).
