Interreg Sudoe at the European Week of Regions and Cities
Categoría General
From 8 to 11th October, we attended the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) to moderate a workshop on transnational cooperation and to support ClimACT which was finalist of both Regiostars 2018 and Interact Slam. And even if we did not get the first prizes, we went back home full of emotion.
During the week of 8th October, the Interreg Sudoe Programme travelled to Brussels to participate to the European Week of Regions and Cities – a week dedicated to European territorial cooperation with the participation of European policies and programmes specialists in order to exchange ideas and experiences on the European project based on the subsidiarity principle. In this context, the Interreg Sudoe Programme co-organised and moderated a workshop on the future of transnational cooperation in the framework of Interreg Programmes. The latter, introduced by Thomas Wobben Director of horizontal policies at the Committee of the Regions, was a worldcafe organised around three roundtables on key thematic: functional areas, macro-regional strategies and policy challenges of transnational cooperation for the future. A summary will be available very soon on our website.
Furthermore, Interreg Sudoe Programme participated to an exhibition - jointly organised with all the Interreg Transnational Programmes. The latter counted on 6.000 visitors and aimed at highlighting how the Interreg transnational cooperation – through its projects, contributed and keeps contributing to the European project building.
In another hand, the Programme attended the Regiostars ceremony – contest for which ClimACT was finalist and led a three months online campaign. Furthermore, the project participated to Interact Slam with an AMAZING performance by Rodrigo, Ines, Lauren and Clelia – 4 young people from France, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar who thrilled the audience explaining the importance of making climate change our priority. Our young colleagues won the second prize in a very tight competition even if they won the first prize in our hearts. From Interreg Sudoe, we would like to thank them for representing the programme and Climact Project with such talent!
