The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the future of cohesion policy. You can submit your contribution until the 8th March 2018.
During 2018, the European Commission will make proposals regarding the next 2020-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. With this in mind, several public consultations have been launched on EU strategic thematic whose analysis will contribute to maximize the invested money’s benefices as well as to implement better policies for citizens.
Thus, the Commission has launched a public consultation on the future of cohesion policy, after 2020. The latter, available in 23 EU official languages, is opened to citizens and cohesion policy stakeholders – including all the EU programmes and funds beneficiaries as such as national, regional and local administrations, intergovernmental and non-governmental agencies, academies, civil society and enterprises. The consultation will remain open until the 8th March, 2018. The cohesion policy refers to the European policy which enables the funding of hundreds of thousands of projects all over Europe through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF) – the two "Structural Funds" – and the Cohesion Fund. It aims at ensuring economic and social cohesion – as defined in the 1986 Single European Act – is about "reducing disparities between the various regions and the backwardness of the least-favored regions.”. In the current period (2014-2020), cohesion policy set aside around € 351.000 million for cohesion policy measures in 274 European regions in order to ensure growth and jobs as well as to face diverse problematic as such as climate change or clean energy.
